The Day The Earth Smiled

London’s hot. No really, it is. Although the temperature has dropped a few degrees under the heat wave line, it is still very much summer here. (I heard the Netherlands is catching up now too, but let’s not make this a weather report). I am treating this blog as a diary now, especially since I’m in England for the summer and I’m happy to hear friends at home are enjoying my tales and pictures. So what’s happened since: I had a nice walk in Chiswick, relaxed at my home for the week and I studied at Graham’s London office.

Which is near Clapham Junction, as you might have guessed from the pictures, with the very inviting courtyard. While I was there, I made one of those signs with Steven’s name on it, so I can hold that up when I’m picking him up from the airport next week. (Oh, don’t tell the boyfriend, it’s supposed to be a surprise). Then, since it is going to be only too-hot-for-clothes and I hadn’t packed enough clothes for this, I went shopping. If you know me, you know this is definitely not a hobby of mine, but I managed to find something nice in a shop in Wandsworth, with a notable try-it-on code.

I also found it funny that a few locals had asked ME for directions. If you know me, this is rather amusing as I do not possess any sense of direction whatsoever. But come to think of it, things I like about being in London #94: not even I can get lost here. Anyway. On that last day in Chiswick, I went out for dinner with my Zooniverse buddies Julianne and Todd. Later that evening we waved at Saturn, as a camera on the Cassini probe – orbiting the Saturnian system – took a picture of the Earth. You can see us waving when you scroll down a bit here.

The actual picture of the smiling Earth can be seen on NASA’s site. That’s us waving on that little dot. That’s ALL of us, and everything we have. I can’t remember to what we toasted, but we used the bottle (that the sweet neighbour had given me) well. We even made the wineglasses sing a new song. The next day I repacked and said goodbye to Gus-gus the hamster, as Rona and Nigel would come back that afternoon and I was on my way to Greenwich, where I’m staying at Geoff’s for the following week. I’ll tell you what we’ve been up to later! Enjoy the sinshine all!

Nice read! Although I wasn’t able to read the second sentence of the second paragraph for some reason. Something about a week or a sign or something? Well… never mind. Enjoy the week at Geoff’s!
