The Zooniverse is here!

Galaxy Zoo, the online citizen astronomy project (on which I discovered Hanny’s Voorwerp), already had two sister projects recently starting: Galaxy Zoo Mergers and Supernovae Zoo. So now the oil spill of knowledge and fun grew so big it needed a new home: The Zooniverse.

As often called ‘ambassador’ for (citizen) science and Galaxy Zoo, I’d like to point out all the interesting corners of the Zooniverse here. The Zooniverse and its projects is a place for everyone interested in science. Whether you’re a scientist or not, you can contribute to real scientific research, learn a lot and share your knowledge and be part of a lively community, with people from all over the world and of all ages, at a level you wish to do so. What will you discover?

I can also already tell you that there are a few exciting and new projects on their way and if you’re interested, you should keep an eye on the Zoo’s Forum as well. I moderate the forum too, so if you have any questions or thoughts, feel free to share them: The Zoo’s Forum.

Bron: Hanny’s Voorwerp. [...]
