SAVE ME

I just noticed this is my 101st article on the blog part of this site and I can tell you it’s going to be a short, important message.

Unlike the title suggests, I don’t need to be saved. But native wild animals in the United Kingdom do! With the elections coming up, things could change regarding the hunting law. Fortunately there’s a large and still growing group of people who believe every creature deserves a decent life and a decent death, so they set up a campaign (which is not a political party or a charity!) to inform everyone about which candidates stand against a repeal and therefore want to maintain the protection of the wildlife.

This group of people is Dr. Brian May and everyone supporting him.

Most people who know me, know I grew up with a lot of pets and have been taught to have great respect for every other being. I therefore cannot understand why some people seem to think ‘we’ have more rights, just because we’re supposed to be the smart species. Knowledge comes with responsibilities and I’m thankful someone really smart stood up.

Most people who know me, also know I’ve always admired Brian for his work as a musician and that I was very impressed about what a lovely guy he is after meeting him. But even if you’re not that into Queen, you’ve got to admit the guy’s a hero for using his voice this way – starting it on his own and without wanting to gain anything for himself.

If you’re in the United Kingdom, please have a look at the website: www.save-me.org.uk before you vote the day after tomorrow. If you’re in another country and you know how Facebook works: let us know you care by joining SaveMe2010.

Not for me. Not for Mr. May. But for all the beautiful animals out there. Thanks.
