Life imitating art

The other day, Bill (who’s doing the lead on our Hubble Voorwerp paper) e-mailed me a couple of pictures, which I thought you, my readers, would like to see too.

With the first he wrote: “I went to the Texas Star Party to give a presentation on the Zooniverse, and was hoping to get some viewing in through various telescopes. Jimi Lowrey lives very nearby, and I did get to visit his observatory…” Below’s the picture of Bill at the amazingly huge telescope, with which you indeed can see the Voorwerp (although it was too cloudy for Bill that night). Jimi told me he once tried and saw the green frog though.

Speaking of frogs – you got to love this one. Bill wrote: “Next – no one will believe I didn’t put this picture together, but the frog in my cabin room landed on that picture all by itself – I only grabbed the camera. Biology imitates astronomy!”

It made me smile in any case. Thanks again for sharing it Bill!

Love the shirt too Bill (carpe noctem)!
