Helping Sinterklaas.

I love the tradition of Saint Nicholas. I love the joy and the excitement of the kids. The trouble Sint takes, to arrive with his big steam boat every year. The funny tricks of his helpers, the Zwarte Pieten. His loyal horse Amerigo and the songs about it all.

I also like to help the real Sint by surprising someone with a small gift, creatively wrapped up, together with a poem. But I guess most of all I enjoy helping the real Zwarte Pieten with throwing candy around and making cute little girls like my cousin Valesca here laugh…

Dank u Sinterklaasje!

Isn’t she the cutest girl you’ve ever seen? The woman on the pictures on the right is my grandmother by the way. And this picture was taken by Henny van Arkel. Note the difference in the spelling of ‘Henny’ and ‘Hanny’… I’m in the picture!
